There’s something i’ve noticed throughout my life.
Two people can be living in the same world…
& yet experience it completely differently.
Lately, i’ve noticed this amplified by the global fuel issues that have arisen from the conflict in the middle east.
Everyone’s talking about it.
Prices going up, uncertainty, stress, fear..
And I’ve had a lot of people around me caught up in it
checking it constantly, talking about it, worrying about what’s coming next.
You can feel it in them.
Their mood shifts. Their energy changes.
The tension.
And I get it.
I’m not saying these things aren’t real.
But I’ve also noticed this:
I don’t experience it the same way.
Not because I’m ignoring it,
but because I’m not feeding it my attention all day.

What you focus on matters more than people realise.
What you consistently take in:
- what you watch
- what you read
- what you listen to
- what you talk about
very much shapes how you see the world.
If most of what you’re consuming is:
- negative news
- fear-based conversations
- constant problems
then over time, that becomes your lens.
Even if nothing in your immediate life has actually changed.
And once that lens is there, it’s hard to see anything else.
You start expecting things to go wrong.
You feel more on edge.
Your body pysiologically changes!
But on the flip side,
when you’re more intentional with what you give your attention to, things shift.
Not because life suddenly becomes perfect & you face no problem…
but because you’re not constantly feeding yourself stress, fear, anxiety
So what does this look like?
For me its simple.
I don’t sit there scrolling news.
I’m not constantly talking about problems that aren’t directly in front of me.
I’m aware of what’s going on, I don’t live under a rock, but I don’t let it take up space in my head all day.
I don’t let it drain my energy
And the result?
My mood stays steady.
My energy doesn’t get dragged around by everything happening externally.
I’m able to focus on what’s actually in front of me.
This isn’t about avoiding reality.
It’s about choosing where you place your attention within it.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, flat, or constantly on edge
it’s worth asking:
What am I feeding my mind every day?
Not once but consistently, through my habits, through my choices..
You don’t need to overhaul everything.
Just start noticing:
- what you’re consuming
- what you’re giving your attention to
- what conversations you keep having
And whether it’s actually helping you… or not.
This is a big part of the work I do with people.
Not telling them to ignore life,
but helping them step out of patterns that keep them stuck in certain states.
And more often than not, it starts with something simple:
bringing awareness back to where their attention is going.
